Awards Timeline and Details:
Stage 1: Nomination
Final date: 21 January 2022
Fill in the online form below to nominate a project, imitative or organization for the awards. All nominations will be considered by the Awards Advisory Committee, and up to 5 nominations per category will be selected for the Abstract Submission stage of the awards.
You are not required to provide any supporting documents for the nomination stage.
Stage 2: Abstract Submission
Week ending 18 February 2022
Relevant nominations will be selected for this stage and would be required to provide a longer abstract of the project, its successes and unique features. This can be submitted in PDF, PPT or Word formats, and would then be judged for the final winner of each category. (More information will be shared directly with successful nominees via email)
Irrespective of whether a nomination is selected as the category winner, interesting case studies and projects may be invited to present their findings at the Summit.
Stage 3: Selection
Week ending 7 March 2022
The Judging Committee will meet to select the winners of each award category. The category winners will then be informed of their status. If not already presenting at the Summit, all category winners will be required to present a case study or their design philosophy for the project/initiative.
Submissions that do not win the category may be asked to present their findings during the Summit all the same, based on the Advisory Committee’s feedback.
Stage 4: AWARD CEREMONY
23 March 2022 (during Summit Day Two)
All category winners will be announced on the second day of the Summit.

Best Projects
Best MENA Retrofit Project Award 2022
An award for the best overall Retrofit project in the MENA region.
Solar and Renewable Energy in Buildings Excellence Award
An award for the most interesting and innovative use of Solar and Renewable Energy in the MENA region. This category is not limited to Retrofit projects, and can include new buildings and developments.
Best Net-Zero Project of the Year
An award for the most successful Net-Zero Energy project of the year.
Best Water Retrofit Project of the Year
An award for the most successful water-focused retrofit project of the year, with an emphasis on total water savings pet year
Best Smart Project of the Year
An award for the most innovative and futuristic smart building and infrastructure project of the year, including advanced IoT integration, smart data management, smart controls and modelling technologies. This category is not limited to Retrofit projects, and can include new buildings and developments.
Please note that the categories above are required to have been successfully completed between January 1st 2021 and February 1st 2022. Projects and initiatives that are currently in the implementation stages, but have not been completed will also be considered. However, projects that are in the design or tendering stages, but have not begun implementation will not be considered.
Best Initiatives and Organisations
Energy Efficiency Government Initiative and Leadership Excellence Award 2022
An award for the most innovative and successful Energy Efficiency and Retrofitting Initiatives. This award category includes both governmental and private sector initiatives that promote, enable or subsidies Energy Efficacy and Retrofitting in the MENA region
Best MENA ESCO of the Year
An award for the most successful and prolific ESCO in the MENA Region*
(*not including Etihad ESCO, the event hosts)
