ABOUT THE SUMMIT
As the UAE experiences unprecedented growth in population and industry, the demand for energy, water, and natural resources is intensifying. Buildings and factories together represent a substantial share of the nation’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, making the adoption of sustainable practices across all sectors critical.
Industrial facilities, in particular, are undergoing a transformation toward cleaner operations, advanced energy management, and significant emissions reductions, reflecting the nation’s commitment to decarbonizing high-emitting sectors such as steel, cement, chemicals, and food processing. By combining building retrofits with industrial modernization, the UAE and the wider MENA region are establishing a regional benchmark for sustainable growth, generating both economic value and environmental benefits.
Across the Emirates, government authorities, developers, and industrial operators are implementing ambitious programs to retrofit commercial and residential buildings, as well as manufacturing facilities. These initiatives feature energy-efficient upgrades, smart automation systems, integration of renewable energy, and optimized resource management, all aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 objectives.
The RetrofitTech Buildings & Industrial Innovation MENA scheduled to take place on 2 - 3 February 2027 in Dubai, will explore strategies for both new developments and existing infrastructure, as well as industrial retrofits for key factories, highlighting pathways to greater energy efficiency and environmental performance. The focus will include modernizing existing buildings and factories, while ensuring all new projects meet international energy and sustainability standards.
