ABOUT SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS & RETROFITTECH MENA SUMMIT
The UAE has been championing the move to achieve net-zero, several initiatives have been launched to ensure a successful move towards a sustainable economy. The emirates have put together several policies and regulations to strengthen their commitment towards a green economy.
UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050 aims to strike a balance between the country’s economic and environmental goals by achieving an energy mix which includes traditional energy sources with renewable and clean sources of energy.
The country is working towards investing AED 600 BN until 2050 to meet the rising energy demands; the most important goals include boosting clean energy and reducing dependence on conventional energy sources to cut CO2 emissions.
Buildings account for more than 30% of the global energy consumption; 20% of the nation’s GHG emissions can be contributed to operational costs of a building. Overall, real-estate holds enormous social, economic and environmental impact.
Over the last few years, the focus has moved towards ensuring that the existing buildings are retrofitted in a way wherein building operations are most energy efficient and sustainable, while also ensuring new buildings have been designed while keeping sustainability principals in mind.
The Retrofit Tech series of events are the most prominent platform for the key players in the Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Retrofitting sectors in the MENA region, with regional events taking place in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Doha. The events bring together the top stakeholders across the region, to share ideas, learn from industry best-practices, and see the most innovative technologies that can help the region’s ambitious sustainability goals.
The 9thedition of the Sustainable Buildings & RetrofitTech MENA Summit will take place on the 13 - 14 February 2024 in Dubai and will gather trailblazers and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in the space of retrofitting and energy efficiency.
